COAST
The Crisis Outreach and Support Team provides crisis intervention services to residents of Halton Region who are 16 years of age or older, have a mental health issue and are in crisis. COAST Halton is a collaboration of the Canadian Mental Health Association Halton Branch and the Halton Regional Police Services.
Intake and Triage
A crisis professional will respond to calls and complete an intake assessment. Support and advice will be provided and a plan for intervention will be developed.
Mobile Outreach
The COAST mobile team consisting of crisis intervention professionals and a specially trained plain clothes police officer will respond to any safe Halton location and complete a risk assessment. When the assessment is complete, a plan will be developed to defuse the crisis or if necessary the COAST team will asist the client to hospital.
Follow Up Support
Clients will be referred to community programs and agencies and COAST will provide bridging support via the telephone to clients and families during the transition.
